Archaeological evidence (Mungo man) shows hominids were already inhabiting Australia at this time. They were
distinct from Aborigines and show different MDNA to all modern humans. This casts doubt on the 'out of Africa'

(1) There is some conjecture about who the first European child born in W.A. was. The information we have is that
Seebaer van Nieuwelant was born on July 27 1623 south of Dirk Hartog Island aboard the ship Leijden. The parents were
Willemtgen and Willem Janszoon. The first European child born after settlement may have been Sophia Dent (to Thomas Dent and
Elizabeth Dodd) who is said to have been born on September 1st 1829. Most history books quote Sophia Roe as being the first
European child born in W.A. on December 25th but if the Dent claim is correct, then Sophia Roe was not first.
