Herron Point is located west of Coolup on the east bank of the Peel Harvey estuary. Access is via Forrest Highway and Herron point Road.

The site was once an important crossing place across the estuary as there are islands and sandbanks allowing people to walk to the west site of the inlet.

There is now a well known campsite located at the point and it is one of the most popular places close to Perth. Unfortunately this means it is very crowded at peak times.

There is a two night stay limit and facilities include a flushing toilet, bore water, bins, seats and a small bush kitchen.

Boats can be launched from the boat ramp next to the campsite and crabbing is popular in the warmer months of the year.

On Wednesday nights netting for prawns and mullet has also been a popular past-time.
