Description
A small seaside town north of Perth which only started to develop in the 1960s.
James Cowle surveyed an offshore reef in 1867 which he named Quin's Reef. The spelling changed to a double 'n' and the origin is thought to be from Robert Quin who arrived in W.A. in 1863. Quin worked as an assistant surveyor but he died in 1886.
The townsite
was declared in 1962.
