DESCRIPTION

Buntine is a small settlement on the Wubin to Perenjori road.

The name was first recorded referring to a nearby hill and when the railway came through the area, it was applied to a siding that was built on the line in 1913.

Grain bins were installed in the 1930s and a bulk handling facility was established in 1949.

There is a local sports club that has a bowling green, badminton court, tennis court and basketball court.

The nearby Buntine Rocks are a popular picnic and camping site. In good years when the winter rainfall has arrived, the rocks are a great place to look for local wildflowers.

Buntine Nature Reserve is one of the largest in the northern agricultural area and it is an important habitat for native frogs. Four different species can be found here.
