The rest area south of Minilya River is once again available for overnight stops. It has only been partially restored to its original size but at least the stupid 'NO CAMPING' signs have been removed. It leaves us to wonder why all that taxpayer's money was wasted on closing it in the first place!
The NEW OWNERS of the roadhouse are currently supportive of the rest area and we recommend that travellers respond by supporting the roadhouse by purchasing fuel etc. there as long as their support continues.
Nearby Minilya Station may have been named after the ship S.S. Minilya that once plied the waters of the north west delivering supplies.
